Speaker Bio

Dr. Vince Mendenhall is currently a consultant for preclinical surgery services. Prior to consulting, Dr. Mendenhall was the Director of Preclinical Translational Services at the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter and was an affiliated faculty member at Wake Forest University. He spent 15 years at Charles River Laboratories as a Principal Scientist for preclinical surgery and worked for 17 years total at 3M as a senior surgical research specialist and surgical research specialist.

Dr. Mendenhall obtained his DVM and PhD degrees from Colorado State University and was a staff surgeon for 4 years after completing his doctoral work. Dr. Mendenhall has co-authored 31 peer-reviewed publications, 12 book chapter and monographs as well as 186 conference proceedings. He is a member of the Society for Biomaterial, the Academy of Surgical Research (President in 2004-2005) and is an elected member of the European Society for Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy. He was the recipient of the 2002 Von Recum Award for outstanding contributions to the field of investigative surgical research and the Academy of Surgical Research and the 2018 Jacob Markowitz Award from the Academy of Surgical Research to recognize pioneers in experimental surgery.
