Different Types of Mouse Colonies for Specific Preclinical Studies
Chinese Mouse models are one of the mainstays of biological research and preclinical drug development. Mice are maintained and bred in colonies that are stringently
Customized full-service mouse colony development, housing, breeding and care to ensure ready animal cohorts for PK/PD, toxicology and efficacy studies. We offer options to ship animal cohorts to third parties or clients, or perform DMPK and early toxicology studies in-house with priority scheduling.
Home – Colony Management Solutions
Every client is assigned a dedicated team member, who is their single point of contact and directs the work of the project technicians and staff. Clients continuing their projects with Biomere receive priority on our study schedule, resulting in expedited starts for studies and more rapid generation of samples and data.
Biomere uses SoftMouse software to manage and track mouse colonies. This ensures accurate breeding, genotyping and colony development records. Clients receive custom inventory reports with detailed information, including genotypes, age, gender, lineage etc. Custom reports are also available upon client request.
Regardless of the size of your colony, we breed to your specifications within your timeline. Upon completion of your project, we will transfer your models in-house for a Biomere study or ship to the domestic or international location of choice.
The Biomere animal care teams can administer custom or specialized diets, water, supplements, medications and enrichment methods to ensure optimal animal health and study-ready animals.Biomere offers multiple housing options, including maximum exclusion for germ-fee animals; standard exclusion for Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) animals; or quarantine facilities that allow specific pathogens. Depending on health status, germ-free and SPF mice are housed in individually ventilated cages (IVCs), while quarantined mice are housed in rigid isolators.
Each client colony is well separated from other colonies, and occupies one side of the rack to ensure no cross-contamination. Biomere also offers genotyping services, using conventional and real-time PCR methods. Genetic background characterization using SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) panels are also available.
The Biomere colony management team has expertise in specific reproductive technologies, including rederivation through embryo transfer; in vitro fertilization (IVF); cesarean delivery; and ovary transplantation. Fostering, timed pregnancies, embryonic and fetal tissue collection, blood, urine and tissue collection are also offered, as well as additional services catering to client needs as requested. The Biomere team has experience managing colonies of diverse rodent models, including neonate models, rare disease models, inducible and conditional expression models (Cre-Lox, Tet-Off/On), reporter models, and complex multi-gene and multi-knockout models. Experience in rat and mouse models from multiple areas of research, including:
Metabolic and liver diseases
Bone diseases
Immunology and Inflammation diseases
Neurological diseases
Eye diseases
Kidney diseases
Lung diseases
