Maintain animal room records including, but not limited to animal identification, cage side observations/clinical observations and environmental parameters (e.g. temperature, humidity). Observes, records and reports atypical findings to veterinary staff and/or senior personnel; May assist in performing tasks in accordance with the internal colony management and/or client colony management program(s).
Performs all aspects of a study cycle for contract research studies including dosing regimen, blood collection, frequency of sample, euthanasia, tissue collection and data collection; use anesthetics for unconscious and/or surgical procedures; critically evaluate data; tabulate, graph and perform basic statistical analysis and perform data quality control review according to SOPs or study protocols.
Develop relationships with customers that influences the acceptance and use of company animal models and services; develop and qualify leads through frequent potential client contacts and prospecting; maintains high-level contact with key accounts; remain abreast of industry trends and activities; performs high-level business development activities, including meeting with potential customers, making capabilities presentations, negotiating contract terms, and ensuring a timely and thorough new customer process; engage in the contractual agreement process and ensure that contracts are properly executed. Scientist I works under the direct supervision of the Small Animal Program Director as a Small Animal Study Director to engage directly with clients to prepare and align on study protocols and timelines, including the generation of IACUC protocols and preparation of the study budget. Our Scientists direct study performance including the oversight of primary technicians, providing technical and scientific guidance, including the review, interpretation and QC of study data. This successful candidate must have knowledge and experience in model development through literature review and experimental design and planning.
